Survival is the key element here. If mankind is to get to level 2 then he has to survive. Survival potential is reduced by many of mankinds current traits ,ie, religious arguing, desruction of the body (drugs, alcohol, unhealthy neurological mind sets etc) and the inability to evolve and adapt (brelating to some people - we've all met people who are resistant to change).

Therfore this means we, as individuals and as a species, need to eliminate these processes to increase our survival potential and further our current technologies. I dont believe that mankind, as an organic species, is capable of this much adaption.

We need to create a "thinking machine" then, that will not be subjected to the aforementioned traits. Does this mean that we will in effect become machines, not too dissimlar to Darth Vader from Star Wars??

Im glad that I gave up working as a chef to become a computer programmer, technology is so much more interesting!!

Well, we could just create a super-robot that abides by a certain set of laws and is designed to destroy anything that doesn't abide by those laws and cannot be controlled. (I'm just referencing a movie if you didn't get that)

An interesting, thought provoking story. It gives an insight into how 'ants' could develop socially for the better. Although development and implementation are two different concepts.

Basically, when individuals begin to think for themselves and become independant from dictation can they can begin to progress mankinds fortunes. The goverments et al, through their power and 'leadership' appear happy to detract from an indivuals freedom of thought through their governance thus further reinforcing their power and 'leadership'.

Combining this story with "The Georgia guidestones", and other conspiricy theories, is rather thought provoking as well. I think I need some time to digest these new ideas that Im being exposed to! How people can ignore our own reality/mortallity is beyond me.[/quote]
