To make early detection of Counterfeit product simple and inevitable: thus deterring the attempt to create or distribute Counterfeit products
The Method:
1 Mark every product you wish to protect with a unique identifier
2 Use the Web to keep track of where the product with that unique identifier is
3 Make it easy for anyone to check the validity of the ID or its location
4 Raise the alarm if either a duplicate is detected or an ID is reported in the wrong place or right place at the wrong time.
How this Reduces the Problem of Counterfeit:
1 Because each protected product has its own ID, any counterfeiter must face the risk that the buyer will attempt to validate the product.
2 If the counterfeiter uses invalid IDs or
If the counterfeiter uses valid IDs that have already been used or
if the valid IDs have not been used but are reported in the wrong place or
are in the right place but at the wrong time:
the system will detect them instantly
3 The effect is to ensure that detection of counterfeit product is inevitable as soon as a few hundred counterfeits are released to the public.
4 That level of detection renders the counterfeit operation uneconomic. They can't make enough money selling the few dozen they might get away with before detection.
